Immediate Release I WANNA
BE LOVED BY YOU: MIAMI BEACH - (Feb 1, 2006) - This exhibition is comprised of over 200 photographs that document Marilyn Monroe's life from the 1940s through the year of her death in 1962. The works of over thirty celebrated post-war photographers will be featured, including Eve Arnold, Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Cornell Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andre De Dienes, Robert Frank, Milton Greene, Ben Ross, Weegee, Gary Winogrand, Bruno Bernard, Philippe Halsman and Bert Stern. Leon and Michaela Constantiner's extensive collection offers an intimate view into the charmed and tragic life of an American icon. It includes rarely seen images, such as: a Cecil Beaton photograph Marilyn Monroe Holding Rose; a nude titled Red Marilyn by Tom Kelly that was the centerfold for the first issue of Playboy magazine; a revealing collection of contact sheets by Bert Stern and Earl Leaf; and a photograph by Lawrence Schiller taken during the filming of Marilyn's final unfinished film Something's Got to Give. In addition to photographs, a multimedia presentation offering other rarely seen glimpses of Monroe will be part of the exhibition. The exhibition will be complimented by a film series the includes How to Marry a Millionaire (1953); Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953); The Seven Year Itch (1955); and the insightful documentary Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days (2001).
