MIAMI BEACH, FL - (May 21, 2009) - On Saturday May 16 over 500 people came to the Bass Museum to celebrate International Museum Day. Partnering with the Miami Children’s Museum, The Girl Scouts, and the Miami-Dade Public Library, this fun-filled afternoon focused on the museum as a public space and resource, encouraging children to observe the structure, content and public function of an art museum. In workshops such as "Build an Art Museum" and "The Museum and Me," children were encouraged to observe how the museum functions as an educational and recreational space for families, as well as a catalyst for creative thinking and an inspiration for budding artists. The Miami-Dade Public Library offered ongoing storytelling in the Taplin Gallery. Parents enjoyed free coffee, compliments of Bustelo.
