OPERA IN THE PARK

MIAMI BEACH, FL - (May 11, 2009) - The Florida Grand Opera presented a free
outdoor concert in Collins Park at the Bass Museum of Art on Mother’s day,
Sunday, May 10, 2009. The concert began at 5:00 p.m. and over 200 attendees
came early to enjoy free admission to the Bass Museum of Art from 3:00 p.m.
until 5:00 p.m. on the same day.
Cast members from Florida Grand Opera’s current production of Puccini’s
Madama Butterfly performed selections from some of the world’s best loved
operas, accompanied by FGO Resident Conductor Andrew Bisantz. The singers
included soprano Shu-Ying Li, who is currently performing the title role of
Madama Butterfly, soprano Kate Mangiameli, who performs Kate Pinkerton,
baritone Jake Gardner, who sings the American consul Sharpless, and tenor
Jeffrey Halili, who performs the role of Goro, the marriage broker.
