wed feb 22 2012 | member benefit only ($250 and higher)
As a benefit for members who support the museum at a level of $250 and higher, the Bass will be open on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:00pm for an after-hours tour of the Erwin Wurm: Beauty Business exhibition. The tour will begin at 7:15pm and will be led by our own Dr. Adrienne von Lates, Director of Education. Following her tour, you are invited to share a glass of wine and attend a private talk at 8:00pm by our Adjunct Curators, Steve Holmes and Roger Ward.
Mr. Holmes will lead a conversation about his project CREDIT and will be joined by Dr. Ward, fellow Bass Adjunct Curator. CREDIT looks at how the invention of complex financial credit systems gave rise to two renaissances: the Florentine Renaissance in the 15th century and the rapid expansion of Contemporary art as a market and social phenomena over the past decade. Behind both of these seismic cultural events are explosive and ultimately catastrophic innovations in financial systems, which have greatly impacted aesthetic, conceptual and artistic innovations.
