Bass in the classroom: multi-session visits and outreach programs
This 3 part program allows for deep exploration and investigation of art themes. Using the IDEA@thebass design thinking process, teachers and museum educators will work together to decide on an appropriate theme that coincides with school curriculum. By discussing the theme over 3 sessions; pre and post classroom visits and a museum visit, students will sharpen their visual literacy, critical thinking and reasoning, information literacy, collaboration, self-direction and invention skills. Pre-K-12th grade.
Prepare your students for their trip to the museum with an in-school, pre-visit lesson before your tour. These lessons include an inquiry-based discussion about objects from the museum’s collection to support age-appropriate learning. This pre-visit will include one forty-five-minute interactive presentation led by a museum educator and an introduction to the Bass Museum and its current exhibits.
