IDEA@thebass WINTER BREAK CAMPS 2013 – for students ages 4 to 12
December 26, 27, 30 and Jan 2, 3

Adventures in painting, drawing & 3-D design! Children will work with our certified art teachers to explore their creative side while getting inspired by our art collection and exhibitions.

camp a: 4-6 year olds
thurs, dec. 26: the art of Japanese marbling – suminagashi! we will be paper marbling with “floating inks”
fri, dec. 27: the wonders of washi – discover the wonders of washi tape, it’s not just for crafting! learn how to use washi tape while incorporating it into printmaking and painting
mon, dec. 30: mixed media exploration – kids will learn about new mediums combined with painting and assorted materials to create finished 2-D and 3-D works on canvas
thurs, jan 2: textile dying based on the work of piotr uklanski – kids will learn about fabric dying and learn different application techniques including ice dying and working with osnaburg fabric. we will also see uklanski’s exhibition, ESL and display our work while drying in natural surroundings
fri, jan 3: put the art in architecture – everything from busy cities to tree houses using design and collage elements by romare bearden and james rizzi

camp b: 7-12 year olds
thurs, dec. 26: exploring nature – we will be examining nature on both a macro and micro level (think zoomed in and zoomed out!)
fri, dec. 27: sculpture and papermaking – using recycled objects students will learn the art of papermaking and sculpture
mon, dec. 30: music and art –we will be making musical instruments and interpreting music with art
thurs, jan 2: impressions and carvings with printmaking – using special inks and tools, children will learn the ancient art of printmaking through carving
fri, jan 3: portraits in the style of… - students will explore different artists and techniques to create various portraits

9 am – 3:30pm | please pack a morning snack and a lunch for your child
daily rate:
$30/per day for members (family/dual memberships and above)
$40/per day for non-members
sibling discounts available
aftercare available until 5:30pm for an additional $10 per child per day

Limited enrollment, advance registration recommended
Children must bring their own lunch and snacks
