SPRING camp 7-12 yr olds reg form 2013
Camp A (4-6 yr olds):
Monday - Drawing and Painting – Explore all the ways we can use drawing and painting materials. Artist children will learn about: Basquiat, Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Lichtenstein, Chagall
Tuesday - Sculpture- Children will make sculptures using various things such as origami, found objects and clay. Artist inspirations will be Damien Hirst, Marcel Duchamp, Louise Nevelson and Giacometti.
Wednesday - Photography- Photography for beginners with black and white, color, and cyanotypes (sun prints). Artist inspirations: Bernd and Hilla Becher, Man Ray, Gerhardt Richter and Gillian Wearing.
Thursday – Digital Art – bring your own or use one of our ipad’s or laptops to learn about digital art for beginners. Artist inspirations: tauba auerbach, seth price, guyton and walker, maurizio bolognini
Friday - Be a famous artist! We will put on our berets, grab our palettes, and explore different mediums in art ourselves in the museum and its surroundings.
Camp B (7-12 yr olds):
Monday – Illustrative Photography. Students will divide into groups to create a backdrop for their photographs.
Tuesday – The Art of the Pop-up Books. Kids will design and create their own pop-up book, incorporating both writing and art.
Wednesday – Stamp and Print Murals. Children will create their own stamps using found objects and materials from the art closet. They will use their creative stamps to make a large mural with the class.
Thursday – Texture Sculptures. Each child will be given the design challenge of making a work of art based on a word to describe a texture (soft, rough, smooth etc) to create an interactive sculpture.
Friday – Recycled Forest Installation. Using recycled, found materials and mixed media, the children will create their own sculptures of things you might find in the garden.
Daily Rate:
$30/per day for members (family/dual memberships and above)
$40/per day for non-members
Limited enrollment, advanced registration is recommended
Children must bring their own lunch and snacks
